About

In about 1996, a USA company named ALR, designed and manufactured a monster computer. It was designed to run on Pentium Pro proccessors and supported up to 6 CPU's.

Ok, so have a close look at what it looks like ;)

On the left you can see the power supply, im actually using a 450W ATX PS. I had to redo the wires, couse the board accepts an AT style connector and a bunch of 5V and 3.3V connectors(more tech spec to come). On the right of the picture you can see the main part of the board. Actually it is loaded with 4x PentiumPro 200MHz with 512k cache each. So, form the left of the picture you can see the memory card, it has 16 slots (2 banks of eight slots each) for EDO SIMMS with parity (its hard to get those now). Nest to it you can see the two proccesor boards, each loaded with 2 CPU's and 2 VRM's

Here we have the whole board. As you can see it has 8 PCI slots (2 buses, 4 slot each) and 5 EISA slots. Actualy two PCI slots are taken by VGA and NIC. One is slot is occupied by an LSI 2-channel FAST SCSI adapter. Therer is one more slot, almost on the edge, looks like a smaller PCI, and is taken by an I/O card. Yes, the board it self has no keyboard/mouse connector, all of them are located on a separate card, along with the 2 RS-232 ports and a LPT port header.

Here you can take a closer look on the I/O card, it is really funny. On the right there is a SCSI drive connected to the onboard Ultra-SCSI controller. As you can see its quite a mess but, im working on some case for this baby :)

Nest picture is a small closeup of one of the CPU cards. The fans ware sold as P4 fans :)

Next picture shows the CPU cards form above. You can see 4 green leds, they indicate the working CPU's :)

Ok, thats it for the hardware as for now :) I hadn't much time so i put Linux there, here you can see the boot screen with 4 penguins :)

If you are interestes, you can see my dmesg output, i also provide the /proc/cpuinfo and the /proc/pci. Thats all for now.
